DIY Hair Bands in Every Color

August 9, 2012

Are you the type who always wears hair bands on your wrist for that right moment during the day when you cannot handle your hair down a second longer? You only wish you could pull your hair up and get it off your neck? One thing I was introduced to were these DIY Hair Bands that you can make in any color you wish. They are so awesome! When buying hair bands from the store you end up paying so much for them! When I fount this easy DIY project on Simple Medicine, I wanted to see if they really saved money. The answer to that question is yes!!!

Materials:

  • stretch elastic ( I like to use 5/8" length of the elastic for my hair, however if you have thicker hair you could consider a thicker length.)
  • scissors
  • clear nail polish

Instructions:
  • Measure elastic to wrap around your wrist, leaving an extra  half inch to inch on each side.
  • Cut the elastic (make sure to use sharp scissors to avoid fray and cut at an angle)
  • Hold the ends of the elastic together and wrap them around one finger.
  • Pull the two different ends through the loop. (try not to pull on the edges of the elastic or it could possibly start to fray)
  •  Once you have the hair band tied together, you could apply a bit of clear fingernail polish to the ends to help with the fray.
Simple as that!

This would be a great small gift to give to friends for just about any occasion.
